NANOTECHNOLOGY

What is nanotechnology?
Nanotechnology (sometimes shortened to 'nanotech') is the study of manipulating matter on an atomic and molecular scale. Nanotechnology deals with structures sized between 1 to 100 nanometers in diameter. A nanometer is one billionth of a meter.

Is nanotechnology safe?
Yes, ours is safe. There are many types of nanotechnology in use today. The science behind our product is non-bio accumulative, which means the particles will not build up in our bodies. Our products contain no known carcinogens under California Prop 65 and do not target any organs as outlined in our MSDS sheets.

Is nanotechnology new?
No, nanotechnology has been used for centuries. Potters in Mesopotamia used copper and silver nanoparticles to achieve a special gloss effect on their pots. And although medieval glassmakers were naturally not familiar with the concept of nanotechnology, they were still able to produce fiery red ruby glass from molten glass using nano scale gold particles. The nanotechnology and nanoscience in use today got its start in the early 1980s.

What makes the nanotechnology in TruNano™ sealers and coatings 'True Nanotechnology'?
The term 'nano' is frequently misused to describe anything 'very small'. True nanotechnology uses nanoparticles ranging in size from 1 to 100 nanometers. The nanoparticles in our products range from 8 to 30 nanometers in size.

How does Nanotechnology help make TruNano™ sealers and coatings so much more effective than traditional sealers and coatings?
The nanoparticles crosslink to create a molecular web on the surface that is virtually impenetrable. Imagine a table that is covered completely with sand (nanoparticles), compared to a table that is covered with dinner plates (traditional sealers and coatings). The sand covers every inch of surface as the grains are very small and can fit tightly together. The dinner plates on the other hand are so large they cannot fit together as tightly and leave large voids where the plates come in contact with one another. There are simply too many voids to be effective against damage from moisture and stains.
